Classic RN7 and train

This tour to the south of Madagascar as known as RN7, because this road from Antananarivo the capital bring you to Toliary the south. This itinerary offers you differents culturs : you across 5 tribes territory on the 18 tribes we have in Madagascar. During this tour, you visit 3 national parks, such as Ranomafana, Anja, Isalo. But in the middle of the tour, you will take the train to offer you the beautiful landscape of the east coast. So from Antananarivo you drive to Antsirabe, then from Antsirabe you visit Ambositra the woodcraft village and drive down to Fianarantsoa, the second largest city in Madagascar. After that, you will take the train FCE (Fianarantsoa cote Est) until Manakara. You have 1 day of visit in Manakara. Then you hiding up to Ranomafana national Park. After your visit in Ranomafana, you drive down again to the south to visit Ambalavao village and the Park ANJA. After Anja you drive to Isalo then you finish the tour in Toliary.

Antananarivo to Antsirabe

Tana-Antsirabe: 175 kms distance

• Drive from Tana to Antsirabe, see handicraft market on the way, beautiful landscape of the Merina tribe area, the everyday life of the Merina people,
• Visit of Antsirabe: the hot spring city with its rickshaws, semiprecious stones, lakes.

Antsirabe to Ambositra, Fianarantsoa

You leave the hotel after breakfast drive to Fianarantsoa via Ambositra, you have break in ambositra for lunch then you have time to visit the handicraft factory, then you drive again to fianarantsoa, fianarantsoa is a nice city to visit, the “vieille ville” means old city offer you a beautiful architect colonial and nice view.

Fianarantsoa to Manakara by the train mora mora

Early morning, you have to drive to the train station, because the train leave at 7 Am, you have full day by train MORAMORA(slowly slowly),this is very beautiful landscape and offer you the local life along the rail, at the end , the driver waiting for you in train station in Manakara, then drive you to the hotel.

Pangalana visit

After the long day by train, we relaxing in manakara to visit pangalana chanel.

You will see:

• the famous Nepanthes (carnivore Plante),
• Destillery,
• Vanilla plantation,

Then you have break in the fisher village Ampasimanjeva. Then the afternoon you walk back to the hotel.

day 4

Manakara to Ranomafana

You leave the hotel after breakfast, you drive back to Ranomafana. Ranomafana means hot water. During the colonial era this friendly village was thermal bath center. Today people go to the Ranomafana to visit the national park, the place where the rare big bamboo lemur lives.

You can do a nocturnal walk in the park with a local guide to see :

• mouse lemurs,
• frogs and chameleons

Ranomafana national park visit

They found the rare lemurs close to Ranomafana village 20 years ago. And after that the national park was established to protect this rare lemur. After breakfast you drive to the entrance of the park to meet your local guide and to buy your entrance fees. You can choose between several walks ranging from a few hours to half a day. In the rainforest you can see the Edward’s sifaka, the golden bamboo lemur and reptiles. There are also about 115 birds species, some endemic. In the afternoon you can visit the village or go to the thermal bath swim in the hot swimming pool from the hot natural spring.

Ranomafana national park to Ambalavao, Anja park reserve and Isalo national park

Today you drive to Isalo. we visit two traditional factories, the Wild Silk factory and the Antaimoro Paper factory in Ambalavao. On Wednesday the biggest zebu market of Madagascar on this village. You will also visit the community-run Anja Reserve, where you can see the traditional Bara family tombs, caves and ring tailed lemurs. After this visit we have lunch and drive slowly to Isalo the afternoon

day 7

Isalo national park

After breakfast you go to Isalo National Park. You visit the park with a local guide. Local is sacred to the Bara tribe. The Bara use the caves as cemeteries. Isalo is dominated by narrow ravines and by wind and water sculptured rocks. First you hike to the natural swimming pool and after a swim you hike to the Namaza circuit. You can also choose to do only one if these hikes. After the hike you drive to the Window of Isalo.

Isalo to Toliara

On the way to Tulear you pass the region of cotton. You see the traditional tombs of the Mahafaly and painted tombs of the Bara and the Antandroy tribes. The afternoon we visit the coquillage market and the arboratium Antsokay
